In today's readings, the message is one of expectation for the return of the Lord. We are challenged by Isaiah and Mark to prepare a way for the return of God in the way we live our lives. This is a continuation of last week's readings where we were called to "Watch" and to be prepared for the return of Jesus.
In the first reading, Isaiah's message is that God will lead the Israelites in exile back to Jerusalem. In the gospel, Mark tells the story of John the Baptist announcing the arrival of Jesus. Both prophets encourage us to be heralds of the gospel, the good news, that Jesus has come to save us.
Can we point others to Jesus in the way we live our lives? Can we create a sense of expectation in all we meet that Jesus is coming to save us?
