God calls us to a higher standard; He calls us to perfection...
"So be perfect, just as your heavenly Father is perfect." (Mt 5:48)
God does not call us to sameness; He does not ask us to fit in...
"You are to be a people peculiarly his own” (Dt 26:18)
God does not ask us to hate our enemies; He asks us to love and to
pray for them...
”But I say to you, love your enemies, and pray for those who persecute you” (Mt 5: 44)
We are His children, and as such, there should be something distinctive, something different about us. God created man in His image and declared His work “very good”. Perhaps, His intent all along was for us to be as good, as perfect as we can possibly be. And I know the way of perfection is not easy, but neither was the Way of the Cross. We have been baptized into the family of God, sealed with His Holy Spirit, and set apart for the good works that He prepared in advance. May we talk like children of God, walk like children of God, live like children of God... for indeed, we are!
And over all these put on love, that is, the bond of perfection. (Col 3:14)
