Choose life...

I can picture Moses, old and weary after the long and arduous journey to the Promised Land. Moses would not cross the Jordan with his people, but he wanted them to choose faithfulness and obedience to God; he wanted to assure them that the Lord would march before them; that He would not leave them or forsake them; they had no reason to fear. Listen to his words today:
I call heaven and earth today to witness against you: I have set before you life and death, the blessing and the curse. Choose life then, that you and your descendants may live, by loving the Lord, your God, heeding his voice, and holding fast to him. (Dt 30:19-20)
We have started our own journey- our spiritual journey through Lent. We have a choice to make. Abundant life in Christ is ours if we choose to take up our cross daily and follow Him. It is by no means an easy journey as it involves sacrifice and self-denial; letting go of the selfish parts of ourselves that keep us from union with Christ. And yes, that cross gets heavy and may cause us to fall, but our loving Father will always provide timely help... and Jesus's own Mother will be there every step of the way.
Jesus is the Way, the Truth, and the Life... may we always, always choose Life!
