Christmas gift...

2020 has been a difficult year...

To some, this may not be "the most wonderful time of the year”. Someone, somewhere, is unemployed; someone is sad, perhaps missing loved ones or mourning the loss of a loved one; someone is sick, someone is lonely...

And while there's a general sense of urgency, a frenzied pace to purchase the last few gifts or groceries for Christmas, it's a time to pause, a time to ponder, a time to pray for someone who is struggling...

In spite of all the struggles and trials this year ushered in, I pray that this year will be a defining moment for us... that we will catch even the smallest glimpse of the glory of God; that we will marvel at the love of our Heavenly Father who saw His children in their state of sin, and decided to send His Son; that Jesus would leave the beauty and glory of Heaven to come to us in the form of a tiny babe... He chose to come closer to me, to you! He walked this walk, immersed Himself in our human struggle and trials so that we can say with certainty that He knows, He understands, He suffered too... more than we will ever have to endure!

Oh, that time would stand still; that we would cease our earthly-minded activity for a moment to thank God for the gift of Jesus; that we would become fully aware and accept this great, intimate gift of love...

Jesus is our greatest gift! He was then, and He still is now...
