Do you believe?

"When he entered the house, the blind men approached him and Jesus said to them, “Do you believe that I can do this?“ “Yes, Lord,“ they said to him. (Mt 9:28 )
There's something remarkable about this story. Two blind men follow Jesus, crying out, "Son of David, have pity on us!"
Can you hear the cry of those two surrendered hearts? In desperation, all they can muster is... have pity on us!
They didn't ask Jesus to heal their blindness; no need to spell out the obvious... Jesus saw them, He knew their need. He did not ask what they wanted; He asked if they believed... Do you believe that I can do this?
There are times I struggle with an issue, and it's only when I reach the end of my own efforts that I surrender and turn to God. Only then, do I make an honest plea for help, for mercy. Sometimes, lengthy prayers aren't necessary, just a heartfelt have pity on me! There are other times I doubt... and I have to borrow the words from Scripture, “I do believe, help my unbelief!” (Mk 9:24)
Though the blind men did not ask, Jesus touched their specific need. He touched their eyes and said, "Let it be done for you according to your faith."
Jesus knows where I am lacking, and He is willing to touch and heal that part of me. It starts with me crying out to Him...
May we turn to Jesus and ask for His mercy. If our faith is weak, may we confess that we need help to believe. And may our eyes be open to see all that He will accomplish in our lives...
