It was night...

"So Judas took the morsel and left at once. And it was night." (Jn 13:30)
How many sins are committed at night? Surely the darkness will cover us; no one will know; no one will see... yet, the very thing that is done in darkness, will come out in the light, and in time, all will be revealed.
Judas, friend and disciple of Jesus... It's hard to believe that he walked with Jesus, followed Him; witnessed the miracles and teachings and healings, but did not allow the love of Jesus to transform him, to change his heart... Instead, "Satan entered him."
Jesus is surrounded by His friends, yet He is deeply troubled...One of you will betray me.
Even with our best intentions, there are times we fail, we fall, we are disloyal and unfaithful; we choose our own will over the will of God. We do not have to remain in that place of darkness; all is not lost if we make a humble confession and ask God to forgive our transgressions.
With the Cross before us, our sure reminder of love, of hope, of victory, let us walk the final days of Lent with Jesus.
