No wasted time...

My mother has such a strong work ethic that she is determined to make each moment of the day count; no wasting time for Mum- if there's a minute to spare, she'll fill it with work that spills over to the next moment... She's a doer.
I was chatting with my cousin the other day- she's a teacher, and admits that this has been a challenging time for teachers and children alike. It's been a disruptive, challenging time for most! COVID-19 has affected people in different ways, and many families have lost loved ones. As more people get infected, others are fearful; some are frustrated that this pandemic is not over yet. This disease has forced us to make sacrifices for the good of others; forced us to go against the grain of our selfish nature...
Indulge me for a moment... let's adopt the mindset that everything is a gift from God. Could this time of physical or social distancing be a gift?
Access to church services may be limited, but our access to the heart of God has not been restricted! We can use this time to make every effort to draw closer to God; to grow in holiness. What if we spend time in prayer, asking God to reveal His will for our lives; His will for our use of this time? What if we used this time to pray for others, to call others when they come to mind?
We must consider how to rouse one another to love and good works. (Heb 10:24)
Perhaps this is our time to take on my Mum's work ethic... no wasted time... time to fill our moments with more of God. And as we allow Him to heal and restore us during this time, I suspect He will breathe new life into us; pour His love into us... creating more compassionate, less selfish people?
Now wouldn't that be a gift to offer to others on the other side of COVID-19... Let's be doers!
And whatever you do, in word or in deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him. (Col 3:17)
