She waited on them...

My mother pampered us when we were sick- she constantly checked on you, and fed you and lavishly cared for you... that was what I was accustomed to. This is a point of contention for me and my husband. Silly me for assuming he'd be as forthcoming with his care and concern when I'm sick. His practical approach is to shut the door and allow you to rest while he watches Premier League soccer; and if Liverpool happens to be playing that day... you're on your own!
I don't know about you, but when I'm lying "sick with fever", I'm no good to anyone for a few days. Not so for Simon's mother-in-law... In Mark 1: 29-31, you'll find her story.
Jesus was visiting Simon and Andrew's house with James and John- she was sick, and the disciples "immediately told him about her." Their confidence and trust in Jesus was absolute!
Oh, that I would learn to immediately tell Jesus about those in need; that I would trust Him absolutely to care for them...
In verse 31, we read, "He approached, grasped her hand, and helped her up." His presence, His touch, His help and healing enabled her to get up, and then she waited on them; she served others.
It's hard for me to serve others in my own strength... it is Jesus who supplies all we need for the good works He has prepared for us.
"Whoever preaches, let it be with the words of God; whoever serves, let it be with the strength that God supplies, so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ, to whom belong glory and dominion forever and ever. Amen."
(1 Pt 4: 11)
