They recognized him...

What a difference a year makes...
I remember listening to our Palm Sunday service on the radio last year, and I cried...
How could the Body of Christ be separated during Holy Week? At a time when we needed the Eucharist, churches were closed or attendance limited.
This year, our church was overflowing on Palm Sunday and during the Easter services. There was a joy in returning to worship, like returning home after a long absence. The pandemic had many feeling downcast, apart from the Church, perhaps wandering away and feeling hopeless. But true to His word, Jesus did not leave us alone... He drew near and walked with us, and was eager to stay with us if we were willing to issue the invitation. Some of us were privileged to return to Mass recently: I pray our hearts were burning once again as the Scriptures were opened to us; and that we recognized the risen Jesus in the breaking of the bread. May we pray for those still separated from the Body of Christ to be united to Jesus in Spiritual Communion. May we praise God and tell others of all the wonderful things He has done for us.
