For Christ also suffered for sins once, the righteous for the sake of the unrighteous, that he might lead you to God. (1 Pt 3:18)
It‘s easy to lose my way along my faith journey. There’s all kinds of things vying for my attention; temptations that are hard to overcome; challenges and trials; situations that leave me deeply distressed. When I’m feeling overwhelmed, these words from Scripture give me pause...
Christ did not suffer in vain! He endured that cruel death on the cross to reconcile us to God... there is no greater love than this! Christ was willing to suffer and die for me, for you, that He might lead us to God. He did not come to lead us on any other path but the one that leads to eternal life with God.
Lent is a penitential time; a time for honesty; a time to admit the reason I lose my way is often my disobedience; choosing my will over God’s will for me.
May we stop our wandering this Lent; may this journey lead us to the heart of God... Jesus knows the way; He is the way!
